2 Resources to Help You Learn About Fluoride, Limit Exposure

Drinking water and toothpaste are just the most obvious day-to-day sources of fluoride. They’re hardly the only ones.

And even that isn’t an exhaustive list! (Some dental sealants and restorative materials contain fluoride, for instance. As a fluoride-free practice, we steer clear of these.)

Certainly, it would be nice to not always have to be on the lookout for fluoride or specifically seek out fluoride-free products. That’s not the world we live in, though. You have to do your homework, so you can make the best choices for your mouth/body health, as well as your family’s.

Fortunately, there are some excellent, trustworthy resources out there, for learning about fluoride’s impact on human health, as well as the fluoride content of particular products.

One of the best is the International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology. The IAOMT is a global network of dentists, health professionals, and scientists concerned with the risks posed by certain dental products and procedures and the promise of biocompatible, biologic dentistry. Dr. Mike is a longtime board member, as well as a past president, and is proud of all they’ve done to educate the public and practitioners alike about dental toxins, including how to recover from exposure to them.

So, granted, yes, we’re a little bit biased. But once you explore the “Fluoride Facts” section of the IAOMT’s expansive website, we think you’ll be impressed. It covers fluoride’s risks to human and environmental health, what fluoride toxicity looks like, and much more, with extensive scientific references. If you’re just beginning to learn about the fluoride problem, you’ll find no better place to accelerate your education and inspire you to take action!

Another excellent resource is a much newer, independent site called Truth About Fluoride, which is loaded with evidence-based content. What makes the site even more valuable, though, is its suite of searchable databases to help you find out about the fluoride content of an ever-growing array of consumer products, including teas, bottled water, and foods.

There’s also extremely useful information on filters to remove fluoride from your drinking and cooking water.

The site is 100% independent and evolved from one man’s quest to live a fluoride-free life. All the product testing is independently done, and the work is funded entirely by the site owner and contributions from site guests, to eliminate the conflicts of interest that can arise from corporate sponsorships.

We encourage you to head on over, explore the site, and if you like what you see, sign up for their newsletter. We also encourage you to follow the IAOMT on Facebook, Twitter, MeWe, or Instagram to stay up-to-date on all matters of interest when it comes to biological dentistry and avoiding or healing from dental toxicities.
